Overview
Chasing the Rainbows Bursting Bubble 5K is held at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, organized by Chasing the Rainbows, a nonprofit supporting families grieving infertility, pregnancy loss, stillbirth, and infant loss. If you know anyone who has walked that road, you understand why an event like this exists. It’s a space to show up, move together, and feel less alone in something that often goes unspoken.
The race runs on the park paths, and strollers are welcome. True to the name, expect bubbles, a live DJ, food trucks, face painting, and raffles on site β the event is designed to be a celebration as much as a race, which is probably the right call for the cause. Registration includes a shirt (guaranteed if signed up by April 1), a swag bag, and a chip-timed bib. Dogs are not allowed on the path or near the picnic area.
There’s a virtual option if you can’t make it in person, but the in-person version is clearly the point. If this cause is meaningful to you, being there matters more than the finish time.
