Overview
The Farmingdale Ram Run is organized by Farmingdale State College’s Health, Wellness, and Nutrition Club and benefits the FSC Alumni Association. It’s a campus race with a genuine community feel β students, alumni, faculty, staff, and local runners all mix together on a USATF certified course that winds around the FSC campus. The event also doubles as a food drive for the FSC Food Pantry, so bringing a non-perishable item gets you entered to win one of three raffle baskets made by the HWN Club.
The free Kids Fun Run goes off at 8:30, one lap around the track. The main 5K starts at 9:00. Top overall finishers M/F get shoes, and so does the top FSC student in each gender. Post-race refreshments include hot chocolate, and participants get a free beer at Changing Times restaurant nearby if they’re 21+. It’s a well-organized campus event with a local, unpretentious energy.
If you’re in the Farmingdale area or affiliated with FSC in any way, this is a natural one to put on the calendar. And even if you’re not, it’s a solid spring 5K with a USATF certified course and a good cause behind it.
