The Footsteps for Progress 5K Color Bash is the annual run/walk for Queens Centers for Progress, a nonprofit that provides services and support to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Queens. It’s a color run, which means you’ll get hit with color powder at stations along the course. If you want to run in white and see what happens, this is your race.
The course runs through Flushing Meadows Corona Park, which is a great setting: wide paths, iconic Queens scenery, and enough space that the event doesn’t feel cramped. It’s part of the NSRF Goodwill Silver Series. Registration includes a dri-fit t-shirt and a medal (while supplies last), and post-race there’s food from Dunkin’ Donuts, Stop & Shop, and Frito-Lay. Not a bad spread. There’s also a free Kids Fun Run at 8:30 AM that requires separate registration through a linked form.
Parking is at the Queens Museum on Meridian Road, not right at the course. You walk from there to the Queens Theater staging area. It’s not far, but plan for it in your morning timeline.
