Overview
Mind Over Matter is a community 5K staged at GEM Fitness in Oakdale, raising money for Alzheimer’s programs and research through Fit For Life. The name is fitting: it’s a race built around mental and physical wellbeing, timed to the spring and designed around participation rather than competition. The 1 Mile untimed option makes it genuinely accessible for anyone who wants to show up and move without worrying about a clock.
The 5K course and 1 Mile route are both mapped on PlotARoute and linked from the registration page, so you can preview the roads before race day. Both distances start and finish at GEM Fitness on Sunrise Hwy. Post-race includes refreshments, sponsor giveaways, and an awards setup that goes deep into age groups β 15 brackets for the 5K, top 3 men and women in each.
The overall prize for the 5K is a one-year GEM Fitness group fitness membership plus raffle tickets, which is a nice touch for a local race. If you’re in the Oakdale area and want a spring 5K with a real cause behind it, this one’s worth a look.
