Overview

The Run for Hope is a celebration of the life of Hope Reichbach, a Brooklyn-born activist and civic leader who passed away in 2011 after working tirelessly for her community. Before she died, she worked on the campaign and in the office of Council Member Stephen Levin, pushing hard to make Brooklyn a better place for everyone. This event keeps her memory alive and raises money for the Hope Reichbach Fund, which provides summer fellowships to college students pursuing careers in social justice. It’s one of those races where the backstory matters as much as the course.

The race runs through Prospect Park, which is a genuinely great place to run. Both the 5K and 10K start near Bartel-Pritchard Circle at the 15th Street and Prospect Park West entrance. The courses are separate and PDFs are available on the registration page. The park offers a comfortable mix of tree-lined paths and open terrain. Online registration closes Friday, April 24 at 1:00 PM, but race-day signup is available for $50.
