Overview
Run for the Petals is a 5K tied to Greenport’s Cherry Blossom Festival, which makes it one of the more charming race-day backdrops on Long Island. Greenport is a waterfront village at the eastern end of the North Fork, and this event leans into the season: spring morning, cherry blossoms, small-town energy. The fundraising goes toward AgroCouncil, the Greenport Business Improvement District, and the Greenport Village Tree β all local causes.
It’s a community race through and through. Expect a friendly field across a wide range of paces. Age group awards go three deep for both men and women, and there’s an overall top-3 finish structure as well. Registration includes a shirt, and same-day signup is available if you’re deciding at the last minute.
For anyone who hasn’t been to Greenport, the drive out is worth it. Combine it with a morning on the North Fork and you’ve got a solid spring weekend.
