Overview
The Unique Abilities 5K is hosted by Preston’s Path Foundation and takes place at Cooper’s Beach in Southampton β one of the Hamptons’ best-known beaches and a genuinely scenic spot for a race. The foundation supports individuals with unique abilities (including autism and other developmental differences), and the event has a welcoming, community-first feel that comes through in the details: strollers are encouraged to line up in the back, kids under 6 race free, and there’s no age group award pressure for participants who are there for the cause.
The course is a 3.1-mile route along the beach area. No dogs or bikes on course. The first 150 people to arrive early get a guaranteed t-shirt with size selection β after that, sizes aren’t guaranteed, so it’s worth being on time if that matters to you. There’s music, water stations, community resource tables, and free finish line photos at the event.
This one has the feel of a community celebration as much as a race. If you’re looking for a low-key spring 5K with a meaningful cause and a beautiful backdrop, it’s an easy yes.
