Overview
The Walk for Resilience 5K is a community mental health event at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, hosted by Carmel’s Depression and Anxiety Wellness Foundation (CDAWF). The whole event is built around normalizing conversations about mental health while getting people moving together. It’s designed to be inclusive and low-pressure β you can walk, jog, or run at your own pace, and the atmosphere is intentionally supportive rather than competitive.
The race starts and finishes at the Peristyle, near Park Side Ave and Parade Pl. The post-race setup includes a DJ, water and light snacks, a bag drop, and community resources. Top 3 M/F overall are recognized, and so are the top 100 finishers. Proceeds support CDAWF’s ongoing mental health education, wellness programming, and community outreach. Organizers ask participants to wear green or turquoise in support of mental health awareness.
If you or someone you know has been affected by depression or anxiety, this event offers a way to show up and be part of a community that’s openly talking about it. First-time 5K participants, families, and seniors are all explicitly welcome.
